Death comes in small packages

Tavallisesti en juurikaan ompele sisustus-juttuja muuten kuin omaan kotiin, mutta tällä kertaa tein pari tyynynpäällistä ystävälleni joululahjaksi. Enkä ihan mistä tahansa kankaasta, vaan Vallilan Kelohonka-kankaasta. Alunperin kangas on yksinäisestä, kokopitkästä verhosta, jonka sain meidän vanhemman kissan kasvattajalta, monen muun verhon mukana. Tein tästä kankaasta jo aiemmin meidän omaan vessaan vessapaperirullille säilytyspaikan, johon saa kolme rullaa paperia, sillä kaappitila vessassamme on rajallinen ja paperin loppuessa on harmillista joka kerta joutua hakemaan lisää vaatehuoneesta. Tyynynpäälliset uskaltauduin tekemään pitkäaikaiselle ystävälleni, joka hiljan muutti pois Turusta. Hän hankki uuteen kotiinsa valkoisen sohvan, jolle ajattelin näiden tyynynpäällisten tuovan mukavasti väriä. Ja nämä voi sitten aina vaihtaa toisiin päällisiin mielensä tai vaikka vuodenajan mukaan. Näissä oli ajatuksena, että teen niistä materiaaleista mitä kotoa löytyy. Niinpä toiseen tyyn...

I got tired of sitting on the floor all the time. And why am i sitting on the floor? Because my spouse and his cat have conquered the couch. I found this idea of diy elegant beanbag  from Less is Yes -blog. Mine is a bit bigger though. My original idea was to use a fabric suitable for balcony as well but since we'll get so little sun to our balcony during the days.. and then I stumbled to this awesome fabric at Eurokangas .. I was sold. It is pretty much perfect. You can either sit in it in an upright position or you can take a more comfortable lying position. I was a bit worried about how the cat will react to it but the cat likes it as well. It usually steals my place in it during the evenings when sleeping time is closing. And even my spouse likes to lie on it occationally and ease his back.

Something little to put in front of the balcony door, a crocheted carpet.

Some reinforcements to my handicraft book collection. Crocheting with the help of omA KOPPA , both book and blog. And seamless knitting from Saumatonta neulontaa. Already got so inspired by omA KOPPA that I started to crochet a carpet. Pictures of that later.

Made these curtains a while ago. Simple straight curtain, 100 % cotton fabric, from Ikea.

Used some left-over yarns to cover the ugly flower vase. Now our cat won't be drinking from the plate.

This is how our sofa looked like after the eight months our cat has been living here and scratching. Both corners of the ottoman. But then I came up with an idea. Fake leather. Sewing machine. Fixed. Made a hood on the ottoman to cover the end of it. Quite a lot of the color blue in our appartment. And the cost? Nine euros.
