Hooked on a feelin'

Image
Kankaina on Kui design:in Pupuset vihreä-valkoisena ja vuori on Eurokankaasta ostetun kukkakankaan jämäpaloja (siskontytölle tein tuosta kukkakankaasta mekon). Projectpouch I sewed not so long ago.

Laiskasti lankalaihiksella

Lapaset on tehty Novi...

Pink for baby buggy

Image
These wooden pearls I bought from Helmikauppa Blingi  and made this decoration for our baby buggy The pink pearls are catching the babys eyes while mom likes the black and white combination.

Baby blue

Image
This little baby blue package was sent for my cousin who gave birth to a baby boy in May. The socks are nothing to write about, I've had them ready for ages. But the blanket was a fun project since I haven't done much crocheting and in this blanket I learned two new techniques. My cousin seemed happy about the blanket since they didn't have any blanket at that time and I was happy to surprise them with such a self-made work.

Beanbagchair

Image
I got tired of sitting on the floor all the time. And why am i sitting on the floor? Because my spouse and his cat have conquered the couch. I found this idea of diy elegant beanbag  from Less is Yes -blog. Mine is a bit bigger though. My original idea was to use a fabric suitable for balcony as well but since we'll get so little sun to our balcony during the days.. and then I stumbled to this awesome fabric at Eurokangas .. I was sold. It is pretty much perfect. You can either sit in it in an upright position or you can take a more comfortable lying position. I was a bit worried about how the cat will react to it but the cat likes it as well. It usually steals my place in it during the evenings when sleeping time is closing. And even my spouse likes to lie on it occationally and ease his back.

Blue, bunnies and a cat

Image
Some projects finished and sent to Sweden. Fabrics for the dress and bag are from Eurokangas. Cotton and denim. The patterns are from the book Mekkotehdas. The cat picture I bought about a year ago (I think) from Handicraft Expo. (I still have two or three cats in storage for later use.) And the bunnies are (once again) from Kui design, sewn together by me. Kui design sells ready-made bunnies as well but I bought these as fabrics. They clean up their storage of left-overs and misprints every now and then and these bunnies had some minor "flaws" on them and were therefore cheaper.

Flower fields and a blue sky

Image
Made some dresses to my niece. Bought a book 'Mekkotehdas' (translates to 'Dress factory') a while ago and had to make some dresses immediately. Material is cotton and size 122/128 (EU) which unfortunately is the biggest size in the book (except that one adult sized dress). Also made a shoulder bag from the left-overs. And got a message yesterday that she absolutely LOVEs the shoulder bag.

Left-overs to covers

Image
Used some left-over yarns to cover the ugly flower vase. Now our cat won't be drinking from the plate.

Cat scratch fever

Image
This is how our sofa looked like after the eight months our cat has been living here and scratching. Both corners of the ottoman. But then I came up with an idea. Fake leather. Sewing machine. Fixed. Made a hood on the ottoman to cover the end of it. Quite a lot of the color blue in our appartment. And the cost? Nine euros.

Sleeping beauty

Image
Made a sleeping mask to myself. Cotton outside and fleece inside, elastic band to hold it in place. Tested it already, works fine, still needs some product development (bigger --> better).

Something to work with

Image
I've started January with several projects. So every time I get tired with one I'll just take another one and continue with that. The other reason for doing several project at the same time is the lack of time. I want to do something for myself. My nephew needs woolen pants. My cousin ordered socks for her and her husband and I promised to start with their socks right after Christmas. I got an idea for two of my friend's socks. And all the time I have is January. I've been already asked if I'll take new orders for socks and I've said that first new orders I take will be in February.. And the time flies by. Anyway, here is a quick look of what I'm working with at the moment. The first picture is of my old pullover. I haven't used it for many years and finally I desided to felt it but then I came up with the idea that before felting I'll take off arms of the pullover and use them to my nephew's woolen pants. If I now start knitting them from scrat...

Winner

The winner of my Christmas lottery is found.. My father was the Mr Fortuna and the winner is.............................. Reija!! In a way that makes sence because she is the one who has commented the most, so congratz for the winner. But I want to thank all of you people who have been reading and leaving comments to me to my project blog. Next project will probably be ready somewhere around the New year.. I'm taking a short break in doing handicrafts. Besides, I still have to publish the actual presents I've been giving you hints of in my Christmas calendar. So I guess new projects will start appearing here in the beginning of the new year, 2010. I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and I hope to see you commenting here next year again. Hopefully I come up with new tricks and treats to offer.. ;)

Merry Christmas

Image
Had to really think which pictures I'll put in last because I've pretty much loaded up all the projects I've taken photo of.. So, again late with one picture. The top in the first picture is self-made. And the fabrics in the second picture I've already shown in my main blog.. The yellow one will turn into a hoodie after Christmas and the other one will probably end to kids pyjamas or something similar. These are the last pictures of my Christmas calendar. On 25th I'll pick the winner of the lottery so good luck everyone who have already left me a comment and those of you who haven't, you still have little bit of time left, so hurry, write anything. And MERRY CHRISTMAS to you all!!

Wrist warmer

Image
This wrist warmer I made my father last night while watching the Swedish movie "Men who hate women" (Män som hatar kvinnor). Need to do one more for the other arm.

Skirt and pants

Image
Once again I'm late with one picture. My nephew was visiting us yesterday so I totally forgot to send a picture. So, two pictures again. In the first picture I am with my younger brother John on his graduation party. I made that skirt to myself. The other picture is a bit older from my studying years in Rauma. The red pants are self-made, absolutely love them.

Pink and violet

Image
I was thinking here.. maybe if I keep myself busy this weekend and the beginning of the next week, I can come up with one more present. I could combine the pinks and violet shown in these pictures and the model on the picture in left. We'll see how this goes.. Edit: I got these ready the night after Christmas day.

At the Pooh corner

Image
This present is hopefully saving one from ear infections.. I could use one like this myself.

Black and red

Image
Isn't Christmas all about the red colour..?! Well, this combination with black and red is one of my favourites, although I prefer darker red if it's for me to wear.. :)

Cool & The Gang

Image
More of the jeans blue.. My original plan was to make myself something of this icy blue, but seems like that's not going to happen.. Hopefully at some point I get so much time that I get to do something for myself as well.. Because I have material for at least two pullovers and two pair of woolen socks.. Going to make some time for it soon but in the meanwhile don't forget to leave a comment before Christmas.. The lottery is still on and you might end up with a pair of woolen socks made by me.. or maybe mittens if you so prefer..

Pearly

Small but beautiful present to a friend.
